Interview with Cargowerk

How did you come up with Cargowerk brand name?
It’s a descriptive name. It is all about the item carrying your stuff - whether it’s a cycling sling bag carrying your items, a u-lock belt carrying your bike lock, or even a pen-pencil roll, carrying your tools or art supplies.

What makes your brand unique?
I am a one-man show; at least for now. The benefit of that is I am agile and more sensitive to customer needs. The drawback is I am only one person, and I can only do so much with the time I have.

When it comes to cost, I cannot compete with large corporations. However, I may put a lot more thought, engineering and real life user testing into each and every product I design. I find every item I am adding to the catalog so far superior compared to analogous in the market.

Why should customers buy your product? My products are well made, well-engineered. The reason why I started Cargowerk in the first place was because as a cyclist I saw that many existing products out there were not addressing certain user needs. Being able to identify the issues on some of the products inspired me to come up with solutions. Some of my designs have innovative features. In addition, I use high quality and durable materials. Durability is top standard for me.

What kind of problems is your product solving?
It depends on the product. I pride myself on coming up with practical solutions to existing problems. For example, a pocket that creates a nice tight seal to keep rain out. I solve problems that existing products don’t.

What is on your mind when you are designing new items? My motto is - there is no point in making just another bag. If I am going to design something new, I have to have a very good idea why I want to start that project. What end user problems am I going to solve? How can I improve what is already on the market?
